Who Am I

Welcome back to Tea with Liya! Today, I'm playing a song that's called "Who Am I." Composed by a group called Casting Crowns, this is a song that I've been hearing for several years. It reminds us that we should look at our lives in a humble way because we're not as important as we think we are. I hope you like listening to it!

Listen to the song here

In my last post, I was talking about how there's some ideas that are important, but aren't necessarily attractive. I also mentioned the lyrics to a song that talked about feeling depressed because of failure. It brings you to the conclusion that you can't measure yourself by the things that you've done.

But, this song brings up another question . . . is measuring ourselves even the right way to go about things? After all, we're only here for a short amount of time. Does anyone even know how long that amount of time is? It seems like that isn't a good way to measure ourselves, either.

The song also asks whether any of us even deserve forgiveness. Why can you expect someone to only remember the good things you've done?

We're all only here for a short amount of time living imperfect lives, and even if we consider ourselves important or powerful, we're still here for a short amount of time living imperfect lives.

But maybe instead of becoming depressed about that, we should be thankful for the forgiveness we have received. . . and the time that we still do have to live. You might even be more thankful for something when you know that you didn't deserve it.

In fact, here's what the lyrics of this song have to say, when they're mentioning the blessings that the singer has received...

Not because of who I am,
But because of what you've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who you are.

I suppose that fits nicely with the song I have scheduled for Friday. In fact, it's called "For All You've Done."

Some of you have been commenting about how you've liked the songs I've been playing. That's also something that I should be thankful for. Not everyone gets the opportunity to play music, or put it on a website like this one. Not everyone gets the chance to...

fill your teacup with music!
