Softly, As In A Morning Sunrise

I just have to start this post with an IMPORTANT announcement. It's probably the most important thing that has happened all yea--- oops, I just gave it away! I suppose I'll just tell you now. The important announcement is that next Thursday, November 8th, Tea with Liya will have existed for one year! (In case you don't know, my first post was on November 8th, 2017. I'll be celebrating one year by releasing another song I wrote.) That's a long time - or at least it is from the perspective I'm looking at it now. After 10 years, it won't really seem like a big thing anymore.

Morning sunrises aren't happening at the same time as they did a couple months ago. That's another example of perspective changing. It looks like the sun is moving in a different way than it did before, but really it isn't. Also, you might see the sun rising at a different time than I do, even though we're looking at the same sun.

And I can be looking at the same Tea with Liya 10 years from now (yeah, it'll have more posts, but unless I decide to redesign it, it will be the same), and my big almost-to-1-year announcement today will look different than it does now.

That ties back to the song because it sounded completely different than what the title was saying when I listened to the recording. (I'm currently trying to play it the way that the pianist in the recording, Wynton Kelly, played it.) I thought a song that has the words "softly" and "morning" in the title might be slow with lots of chords. The title usually has something to do with the song, so SAIAMS (that's my abbreviation for the title) seems to be an exception. However, I sometimes see ones that look a little bit out of the blue (like Cold Duck Time - I always mention it when I'm talking about this).

But, others might think that it works perfectly fine.

Everyone is different, and that's why we all think about things differently. There's no right or wrong way to interpret something like this. You're going to think about it differently than I do, and that's perfectly fine.

Because our teacups are all different. And our morning sunrises are all different, too. I hope you like this one!
