Woo-hoo!
Today's a great day - because it's the day when I've posted my 35th song. This post has a song that you might consider "new and different", but I need to put something here other than just classical and jazz music. If you've looked at the archives on the bottom of this page, you might say that I have 41 posts, but 6 of those were Heads Up posts which are just talking, pretty much. They don't have any music to go with them, although they often tell you to listen to music. But we'd better get back to the topic of the song itself. You think it will be about a place that's filled with rocks, right? You'll see piles of them wherever you walk, from pebbles to mountains. You'll always be running around so you don't get caught under an avalanche of rocks. And it'll really hurt under your shoes, right? When you finally smash your way through the stone door (while this song is playing), you'll remember to never come to Rock Zone again.
Well, I'm talking about a different type of rock.
Think about things like electric guitar players with extremely long hair, and an extremely strong beat that keeps going for the whole song. In fact, I read somewhere that rock music kills plants. But it doesn't seem to be killing us, because it's been around for many years.
And there's probably someone that really likes rock songs, and also might say, "George Gershwin's songs are (to me) extremely swung," - but if you think that, you shouldn't keep coming to this blog because it has lots of jazz - "extremely repetitive," - well, George Gershwin had a unique way that he wrote all his songs - "and extremely not worth listening to." - That isn't really based upon fact.
You might disapprove of me labeling this song "Jazz," but when I chose it, I just thought the "zz" ("buzz? fizz? razzmatazz?") is something that could be used to describe rock music, so I'll put it under jazz anyways. I might make a new label called "Modern Music," but first I'll need enough songs to put into it.
(Returning to this post in 2024, I've since learned that both styles, jazz and rock, originated from the blues.)
Anyways, I'm getting off topic here. This song was not written by George Gershwin - it was written by Robert D. Vandall. I don't really know much about him, but I hope he was just a Vandall and not a vandal. (Similar, huh?) Although I have stated that rock isn't my favorite type of music, this song is an exception.
And no, it doesn't have any drums or electric guitars! Up until now I haven't added any real instruments to my piano recordings - I've just used iReal Pro for backing tracks. (Although I may change that in the future.) So are you ready to listen to it?
One more thing. I said that rock music isn't my favorite (or at least wasn't, at the time I put this up - now I think my judgment was off), but I never said that rocky ice cream - or any kind of ice cream - isn't my favorite. This would be the perfect time to grab that Oreo ice cream sandwich in the freezer that I'm thinking about eating as I write this. You know what? While I'm eating it, why don't you listen to the song?
This song reminds me a bit of Schroeder playing the pinao in Charlie Brown. It makes you want to tap your fingers and toes. : )
ReplyDeleteI should listen to this Schroeder... why wouldn't you listen to a song that makes you tap your fingers? Or any song, for that matter. You know I'm always saying on here that you should listen to music. We don't know.. I might even find a new song to learn!
