Perhaps since Charlie Parker had already written Ornithology and Anthropology, he wanted a way to claim a third "ology" for himself. His recording was in 1947, which might be long enough ago that none of you reading this actually existed at the time. That's something that's pretty "crazy" to think about.
Maybe something else that's crazy to think about is that COVID has existed for a year. But, if you're reading this, then you were also able to get through 2020. You might have thought in February or March that you wouldn't.
Here's something crazy that I found. I was looking at my folder of Tea with Liya songs, and near the top was "AutumnLeaves.mp3 - 4 MB - Dec 15, 2017." Of course it was a known fact in my head that Tea with Liya has been here since November 2017, but I didn't always think about the fact that I had been posting songs for more than 3 years. It's a bit of a surprise when you suddenly find something like that.
I've just noticed that all of these examples I thought of are references to time. You can never fully predict how time is going to pass. Of course you know there are 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day, but that doesn't mean you're always consciously aware of those hours. It's only at some point when you look back that you realize how much time has passed.
In fact, now we really can say that hindsight is 2020. If you look backwards, you see 2020. (Aha, now we know - you'll have 20/20 vision whenever you think about the past.) I'm sure there were a lot of things I didn't know when 2020 started that make more sense now.
Taking another look back at the past tells you a lot more information than you noticed at the time, whether it's because you didn't notice time passing, or there were things you didn't know yet. But what's the real reason why you didn't notice?
I only have one way to answer that question: I don't know. Maybe that's the most crazy thing to think about today.
