I now know that "valse" means "waltz," but I don't know what the "hot" is for. This could have been a red-hot popular song back in the '50s. (Not that I was alive then, of course, otherwise I would be heading towards age 75.) Sonny Rollins, the composer of this song, was still performing in 2011! Many other famous jazz musicians of the 20th century had short lives or were no longer active in the 21st century.
By now, we all know that the composing careers of many world-famous musicians are over. But by all means, that does not imply that we should no longer be playing their music. I can prove that by playing it on my own piano, and you can prove it by taking a listen.
But just one thing before you listen to the song - I put something else in this song. (I told you. I'm always breaking the rules.) I have this app called iReal Pro that plays bass and drum sounds to accompany your instrument. I used it to make this song sound better - but again, you won't know what it does sound like until you listen to it.
Don't I always talk about listening?
