Pennies from Heaven

Many times, you can find meaning in music by listening to it and seeing what emotions your brain generates. But sometimes, you can find meaning in music simply by looking at the lyrics.

For example, the lyrics to this song talk about a time when the best things in life were free. Blue sky, shiny moon, bright yellow flowers, just enough rain to keep plants growing.

Perhaps if you hate pulling dandelions out of your lawn, bright yellow flowers aren't too appealing. Image by pixel2013 from Pixabay

But eventually, people settled down in their satisfaction, and forgot to give thanks for and appreciate all the things around them. Why appreciate a sky that is always blue? They thought that they had everything they needed, that life was perfect, that they had nothing to worry about.

Because of people's bad attitude towards the world, all the perfection disappeared. Storms began coming to break up the constant sunshine, which you could only bring back by paying. Of course, complaints probably began spreading across the planet, but there was a lesson to be learned.

Eventually, people discovered that their fortunes were already there for them, even though the world wasn't perfect. They began to imagine that the clouds were sprinkling "pennies from heaven" on the ground. "Why hold your umbrella over your head," they'd say, "to shield yourself from the rain? Hold it upside down so that you can collect these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities."

These are only a few pennies, but they are still worth more than the molecules of nitrogen and oxygen that would take their place. Or are they? Image by Chris Pastrick from Pixabay

Now, when they heard a storm coming, they didn't hide under a tree, but rather remembered that pennies from heaven were waiting for them.

This song helps us to remember that good things can come out of events that seem bad. As they always say, "every cloud has a silver lining." We should always try to find the positive things about our current situation. Hope is the only thing that will keep you going strong for the rest of your life.

If you're struggling with an unhappy situation right now, take a few minutes to listen to this song. I hope it will help you to feel better!

And as always, keep filling your teacup with music!
