Today is September 12, 2018. And I sure hit the record books for Tea with Liya with my 40th post of the year! But - there's only 10 days left until a new season is coming.
I still remember writing this song a few months ago, when I listened to Valse Hot and decided to make a song based on its chords. How did it go by so fast? Summer is a time when school ends, temperatures get warm (although sometimes a little bit too warm), and it's the ideal time to do lots of things - do construction, take vacations, play in the park (which is where the other interpretation of "Summer Slides" - the slides that we play with in the summer - came from), go outside, just relax for a while, or anything that needs the sun to be shining for lots of hours - but now, it's almost gone.
But why?
Because of time.
Especially because time is moving.
It's so simple, but the one word "time" explains everything that I've just said. It's often an important factor. The reason why seasons - especially summer - seem to pass quickly is because of changes in our awareness of the passing time. In winter, we often spend time wishing that summer will come back. But in summer, we're enjoying ourselves so much that we don't think about time passing.
Time, of course, is something that becomes important in songs too - no matter what you're playing. You have to make sure everything is in sync and following the proper tempo and rhythm. If you were playing drums, you would need to have an even bigger sense of time - you're literally playing for the whole song, setting the guide rails for everyone else.
And time is also important when you're playing the piano. If I played this song, but set the tracks in iReal Pro (the app I use to generate the drums and bass sounds) to the wrong speed or time signature, then the melody notes would fall in the wrong places on the track, and it would certainly not sound right. I don't think you would want to spend your time listening to low quality music that's poorly timed.
Which is why I'm here to bring you high quality music - and I hope you'll like this song I wrote, and it'll match what you're looking for.
